The Fifth Edition took over four years to complete. In some cases, new chapters were proposed, and others combined. After this first draft was received, each chapter underwent comprehensive editing, in some cases passing through more than five levels of review. The result is a document that is broad, wide-ranging, and current in state-of-the-art scientific and working diver information and procedures. Within the NOAA structure, this manual is meant to be used in conjunction with the NOAA Scientific Diving Standards and Safety Manual and the NOAA Working Diving Standards and Safety Manual, both of which were developed concurrently with this edition of the NOAA Diving Manual. Conceptually, this manual provides general safety information and background on all aspects of diving, while the two standards and safety manuals outline the specific rules and procedures under which NOAA divers operate. While Imperial units have been used throughout the text, conversions for the International System of Units (SI, from the French Le Syst�me international d unit�s) have also been included. This resource could not have been developed without the assistance and efforts of a broad panel of experts. These contributors are recognized in the Acknowledgements section of the manual. Likewise, an extended team assisted in editing and review. They are also listed in the Acknowledgements. The NOAA Diving Program (NDP) office and staff provided significant support, as did members of the NOAA Diving Control and Safety Board (NDCSB).

WOW!!!!!

My son and I are both Master Divers. He is taking another diving course and they are using this manual. He told me how fantastic is was. I must agree. Well written, beautiful illustrations, excellent pictures. It is a pleasure to read. It really fills in a lot (especially on dive physiology) that was never covered in the PADI courses.

Thoughtful and research-based

The central thesis of this book is that the enormous conversion to protestanism among Guatemalans during the past 40 years can be traced to the destruction of traditional communities as a result of war, violence, and migration. The adoption of a new religion provides converts a sense of order and identity. This book, carefully researched and beautifully written, provides a compelling argument in support of the thesis. I would highly recommend this book to all readers who are interested in Guatemalan history and social studies.

Still using Writer's Inc. after 9 years!

This book served me well through high school, college, my first job as a newspaper reporter, and also as a content writer for an Internet integrator. Highly recommended. I believe all schools should do what my high school did with this book: but a copy for every student to keep forever. It is an invaluable resource, with the right approach, and a little attitude.
Fun, witty, smart, direct, and simply the best reference book I've ever owned, Writer's Inc. is exceptional not only for its utility, but also its content. Writer's Inc. is not only a grammar guide and reference, but addresses the THINKING and LEARNING processes in a way that most schools fail to do directly.
Read this book. Keep it on your shelf all through school, college, a career, and the rest of your life after this and you will have a richer mind for it.

As a writer and a 15-year homeschool veteran, I have used many different programs for composition. At last I have found *The One.* Writer's Inc Teaching Guide, used in conjunction with the Student Guide, is everything I have looked for in a writing program. It is rigorous, yet flexible. It works well for students with varied ability levels, as well as those with different learning styles. I wish I had found this program 15 years ago. Highest marks to Writer's Inc!

This is money well spent. This book covers all part of speech and keeps your writing on track. I chose this book as I was a nurse for 28 years and never wrote in full sentences. This is helping me get back to good sentence structure and complete sentences. I highly recommend the book and seller
