Interesting Enough Parallels

This was an interesting read for me as an adult who has three children, two who are neurodiverse; and as a woman who has physical disabilities. I was able to draw parallels in how society treats autistic people, who have evolved naturally, as well as anyone who has other neurological differences and disabilities apart from the sociological ideal of what a human is supposed to look like. It shows exactly what Eugenics is about, and the dangers it poses in crushing and disposing of individuals who may not be what's wanted based on what they think these people represent and are, but are valuable nonetheless. There some truth and insight into the amorality of using humans as experiments.

That's what kept me involved in the series. The storyline itself, if I ignored the syrupy love story, was decent. GMO humans? It's where we're headed. The writing was all right, but not top notch. I would say that the writing level was sophomoric, but not so terrible that I had to put it down at times.

What made me hate the fact that I purchased the series versus borrowing the series and paying nothing was the ending. I effing hated the ending so much that I threw my Kindle across the room. Don't worry, it landed in a pile of dirty clothes that were on the way to the laundry. ::sigh::

I've been watching the movies, which I enjoy quite a bit.

Loved the first two best

Entertaining plot. Loved the first two best, and balled my eyes out on the third one-- and not for a good reason like in the final Hunger Games. Hated the ending! Loved the characters!! As an avid reader I found Veronica Roth's writing to be a little amateur. Will probably still read her again though if she writes something that sounds good.

Was first turned on the series after seeing the first movie, only a week ago... Then watched the rest of the movies that are out--and then bought and binge read the books in four days... The movie plots for "Insurgent" and "Agilent: Part 1" are sooo different than the books! I liked the movies sooo much better!! I hope the last movie is also differs from the book AND HAS A BETTER ENDING! Fingers crossed.

Amazingly written. I fell in love with pretty much all of the characters as soon as they were introduced ( with exceptions for Caleb and David.) I love all of the problems and troubles that Tris and Four go through not only alone but together. It took me 2 months to read the books because they were so good and sometimes I would find myself skipping to the end of the page to find out what happens and then I would have to go back to reread the page. I like the bundle because it saves time and money.

Over all it was was an amazing set of books and I am rereading Divergent. The ending of Allegiant was sad but it needed to happen. I won't spoil anything but let's just say I let some tears fall. But all in all it was amazing series and I would tell anybody to read these books.

A masterpiece of leadership guide

This book is a masterpiece born from the long experience of the author. I have not seen a book which is so structured and easily explained the execution ways of leadership like this. Through this book, I want to check my leadership periodically and recommend strongly to the managers of our company.

A truly average textbook

As textbooks go, it's fairly middle-of-the-road. Not terrible, but not impressive either. You can tell that this one is based on the same core format and been partially revised many times over the years. Despite that, it's not free of errors either; the sixth page of the first chapter has a critical (and hilarious) error that really hurts the credibility of the text right off the bat, but it's the only one of its kind that I can see. Because of the fact that it has been revised many times since its original publishing many years ago, some rather dated and odd-sounding verbage is left in for certain areas of the book that may confuse some folks, but it's not deal-breaking.

At the end of the day, it's an acceptable book with some decent content despite its shortcomings, even if it is ludicrously overpriced. If you need this for class, I recommend renting it, as that means spending the smallest amount of money on something that isn't of much value outside of the course for which it is required.

A Dan Barry story - powerful and fast!

Frederick Schiller Faust wrote under 19 different pen names, the most popular being Max Brand. He was orphaned at an early age and worked as a cowhand during his formative years and attended the University of California, where he was known as a troublemaker. work influenced Louis L'Amour and hundreds of other western authors who followed the literary trail Brand had blazed.
This is one of his best novels, violet, yet powerful with an ending that only Max could write - its about Dan Barry - strong, along, righter of wrongs, and don't get on his bad side - or you end up DEAD. In some ways, it's sad these days are now gone - except for being able to pick up his novels once again. If you have never read one of his westerns, you could do no better than to pick up this one.

Starts Off Good & Just Keeps Getting Better

This is an excellently written story with action, compelling drama & at tmes nail biting suspense. I've read many of Max Brand's books, but this has become my absolute favorite. The characters are well developed & the plot is engaging. I couldn't put it down. It is so much more than a typical western (though I do love the genre). I rooted for the villian despite his dreadful deeds. There is an eerie component to this story that will stick with me for a long time. The wordless understanding the main character shares with his unusual companions is chilling, but simultaneously endearing - an odd mix of emotions for any story - which only proves the talent of the author. I didn't want the story to end. Read this book, I'm sure you'll enjoy it! The Kindle edition does have some typos, but not enough to drive me crazy.

I first read this book at a local Library as a 10 year old and was suprised to find it as a digital download for Kindle.
I was transported right back to childhood.
Max Brand was a great author and words his novels in the same fashion as spoken language of the times.
Loved it.

Peter = Hemingway of FBA (and yes it's worth ~$45)

Ok, first to all the complainers of this book's price - we (FBA Sellers) don't want you anyway, so go away. It's less competition for the little-known strategies Peter reveals in the book. If you're chafing your undies over $44 versus the $1.99 you're expecting, you have no business selling products on Amazon. Throw a tantrum at a $4,000 Amazon course, not a $44 book.

Now, for the book itself. (I got the PDF version, which is why my review does not say 'Amazon Verified Purchase'). The Amazon retail business has its first Ernest Hemingway, and his name is Peter Valley. I suspect that's his ghost writer name but he is truly one of the best writers I've seen. Brother has flow.

Okay, enough about Peter's writing style. I learned a WHOLE lot from this book. Peter dissects and reconstructs misconceptions (and presents the facts) over EVERY nuance of your Amazon selling business that you can imagine: repricing, long-tail, sales rank, sourcing products, negative buyer feedback, etc. It's like he got inside every seller's head and said, "Oh, so that's bothering you? Well here's your answer".

Because of Peter, I'm changing a few of my strategies, including my repricing. And I'm stubborn as a mule, so his ability to sway me (effortlessly) deserves props.

My only critique? You can probably find the first 1/3 of the book's content (other Amazon seller 'basics') in books you already have. It's the other 2/3rds that take up the lion's share of the value.

Great book with a lot of good information

I was a little hesitant to buy this book because of the price, but I'm glad I did. Just one tip about religious book buying, something I had never considered, repaid the price of the book three times over within a week.

The book also goes into more detail about media sourcing and grading than anything else I've seen. There are extensive sections describing where and what to buy and good information about "long tail" theory and how to use it.

If you get morally outraged very easily then you may not like some of his black hat tricks, but you can always choose to ignore them. In fact, that section is only a couple of pages out of a total of 180 pages.

Overall, a great book with a lot of valuable information for anyone selling on Amazon.

Not for the advanced seller

I'm always interested in reading a new book on Amazon selling, but this one didn't do too much for me.

I expected more information on sourcing media products, but this book didn't give me any new ideas. If anything, I realize that I need more efficient on consistently pursuing various sources, but this book doesn't offer much on techniques to manage this process. The single biggest problem for most successful media sellers is the constant feeling of hustling because it's all too easy to let this business run your life.

The author does live a bit on the edge. For example, he's very willing to list books as "New" that are not exactly new according to condition guidelines. He'll get a lot of backlash about this...honestly, it doesn't bother me a ton. However, if he's creating dissatisfied customers, he's really hurting the reputation of the whole marketplace, which hurts us all.

Overall, I think the author is smart. He probably would have a lot more to offer after a couple more years of running his FBA business because he's the type that will keep developing his processes and sourcing model. While secrecy can be important, you do sacrifice a bit of that right when you decide to write a business guide. I was left with the feeling that the author was purposely holding back potentially helpful detail and information.

If there's a follow-up with more advanced techniques, I'd be an enthusiastic buyer.

If you're looking for a better introduction to FBA, I'd recommend Chris Green's "Retail Arbitrage."
